BCS 710 - 7 HP

(Shown with 18” tiller implement) The 710 uses the same 2-working-speed transmission with transport speed as the 718 / 722, but has the lighter-duty handlebars of an earlier BCS machine (model 716), which were not quite as adjustable and cheaper to produce (hence, part of the reason for the lower price). This tractor is equipped with a commercial-grade Kohler 7hp engine, and is a great minimum-priced BCS tractor for small properties and gardens, with no sacrifice of the power-train quality of the larger models.

BCS 718 - 6.5HP

(Shown with 39” cutter bar implement) The BCS 718 offers the same 2-working-speed transmission as the 710, but with a more robust, fully adjustable set of handlebars. This model is well suited for small gardening, stationary (pressure washer, chipper/shredder) applications, some snow removal and transport tasks, but only limited mowing applications due to slow overall ground speed. This is the exact same tractor as the BCS 722, except the 722 has a larger engine and standard wheel size.

BCS 722 - 8HP

(Shown with 20” tiller implement) The BCS 722 has the same transmission as the BCS 718 tractor but with more horsepower to handle a larger array of implements, such as the wood splitter and 40” power sweeper, which the 718 lacks the power for. This tractor is a nice size for the average home gardener, and will handle a variety of other tasks well, except for larger mowing applications…Top mowing speed on the smaller (710 through 722) BCS machines is about 1.

BCS 732 - 9.5HP

(Shown with NO implement) This tractor has same gearbox as BCS 718 and 722 but with the addition of lockable differential for ease of maneuvering, larger adjustable-track wheels (than the 718…the wheels are the same as on the 722), and larger engine. These features enable the 732 to handle a larger assortment of implements than BCS 722. The 732 Also features longer handlebars for improved control. This size unit is good for medium-sized soilworking and stationary applications, but not ideal for large mowing applications due to limited “working” speeds (see specs below) and NO steering brakes.

BCS 739 - 11HP

(Shown with 26” tiller implement) This model is the largest of the “small gearbox” BCS tractors. Compared to the 732, it offers the following additional features: An extra “working” speed (but no “transport” speed) A larger engine and larger standard wheel size This model has the PowerSafe Hyrdo-mechanical “wet” clutch This model has a parking brake (NOTE: these are NOT independent “steering” brakes) When compared to the BCS 749/852/853 models, the lower power and lack of steering brakes means that our recommended implement selection for the 739 is somewhat reduced compared to those models, but it will handle more implements than the model 732.

BCS 749 - 13HP

(shown with 30” tiller implement – stock European photo, U.S. models differ slightly) The model 749 is identical in its transmission and features to the BCS 853, with the exception of the 749 having NO “transport” speed, so transport carts are not as practical for this unit. Otherwise, it uses the same implement selection as the 853. This machine also features BCS’s new PowerSafe Hyrdo-mechanical “wet” clutch. This size/class of walk-behind tractor represents the most versatile machine for all-around use, and is our most popular class of tractor.

BCS 852 - 13 HP

(Shown with 5x12x22” wheels & Berta flail mower implement) The 800 series BCS machines are currently our best selling BCS models; the 4-speed transmission and standard steering brakes make these tractors excellent for larger mowing, haymaking, and snow removal applications, in addition to soil-working tasks. The BCS 852 walking tractor is the 800-series variant that has the “transport” speed available in the “Front-PTO” (mowing/haymaking/snow removal) mode, so it is more popular for users who plan on using the machine more (or transporting the machine longer distances) with front-PTO implements mounted.

BCS 853 - 13HP

(Shown with Caravaggi BIO-90 High-Speed Chipper implement) The 800 series BCS machines are currently our best selling BCS models, and the 853 walk-behind tractor is the best-selling of the 800 series. The 4-speed transmission and standard steering brakes make these tractors excellent for just about any task: Plowing, tilling, mowing, haymaking, transport and snow removal applications…and many others. The BCS 853 walking tractor is the 800-series variant that has the “transport” speed available in the “Rear-PTO” mode, so it is more popular for users who plan on using the machine more (or transporting the machine longer distances) with Rear-PTO implements or utility trailers.

BCS 750 - 13HP

(shown with 33” tiller implement – This is a stock photo supplied by BCS, and it shows a diesel engine…which is not even available on this tractor model in North America! We will be updating this photo in the future) This tractor uses the same transmission housing, handlebars, and internal gearing as the BCS 749 or 853, but differs in the following ways: 1. PTO coupling flange is cast iron (rather than aluminum), and has an integrated quick-coupling system that is specific to this tractor model.

BCS 779 - 13HP

(shown with 30” tiller implement) The model 779 is a brand-new BCS model for 2022 (the same as the model 770 introduced in 2020, but with 6” longer handlebars), offering Hydrostatic drive for fully variable ground speeds from 0 to 4 mph. It is technically a “gear-over-hydro” transmission, because a 2-speed (high or low range) gear drive drives the hydro system, which then drives the wheels. The PTO is directly gear/shaft driven, for better power efficiency, and is independent of the hydro system – meaning that this is model has, in effect, a “live” PTO, where the tractor wheels can change speeds or even change direction WITHOUT interrupting PTO power to the implement.

BCS 620 - 8HP

(shown with power sweeper implement) This is one of the two tractors BCS imports to North America that are of the 600 series: These are front-PTO only machines…the Handlebars do NOT rotate to the rear–PTO mode, so it will not accept any tillage / rear-PTO implements. Good for applications where only front-PTO implements are desired, such as cutter (sickle) bar mowers, snowblowers, power sweeper, chipper/shredder, etc. Why are new BCS tractors BLACK or SILVER?

BCS 660 Hydro - 16HP

(shown with cutter bar implement and spiked wheels) This specialized machine is part of BCS’s 600 series, which are tractors that have the handlebars permanently mounted in the Front-PTO mode…the handlebars on this unit do NOT rotate to the “rear-PTO” mode, so it will not accept any soil-working/rear-PTO implements. The 660 Hydro features a Hydrostatic-over-gear transmission for completely variable working speed from 0 to 4.5 MPH. The Hydro feature also acts to provide a “live” PTO, so the machine can be shuttled from forward to reverse without interrupting PTO power.

Overview of BCS Tractors

The BCS company was founded near Milan, Italy in 1942 by Luigi Castoldi and two associates, Camillo Bonnetti and Severino Speroni (Castoldi is the “C” in BCS; the other two the “B” and “S”) and their first product was a motorized walk-behind sickle-bar mower. The idea was to revolutionize small-scale hay mowing for the small mountainside farmer in Europe; the only other way to cut hay while on foot was with a scythe (great exercise, but a bit tiring on several acres) or hoofstock-powered mowing machines (which ate about as much as they mowed on small plots).
